As of March 1st 2009 Mid Devon Community Recycling (MDCR), has pledged to donate money to a tree planting charity for every tonne we fail to recycle.

Every year we collect thousands of tonnes of recycling from Devon households and businesses, and we're enjoying business as usual despite the horror stories from some UK councils who have been unable to find markets for recyclable materials. So confident are we of recycling everything we collect, that we've pledged to give away £1 to charity for every tonne they send to landfill.

"We've designed a unique method of sorting recyclable materials which ensures that we end up with a really high quality product. Despite the current recession we've had no difficulty selling materials and we're continuing our tradition of sending only tiny fractions to landfill".

As a Social Enterprise with environmental objectives, we are keen to contribute to carbon reduction and biodiversity, and we've teamed up on this project with Moor Trees, a Devon based woodland charity. Eleanor Davis,, Operations Manager of Moor Trees said, "We are delighted to work with MDCR in this way and we will use their donations to continue our work of collecting local seed to grow local provenance trees in our woodlands".
